In his journal no. 8 Jacob Myers, a circuit preacher in Ohio, records receipts and expenses in the first six pages. His diary entries from August 21, 1855-June 12, 1856 describe towns visited and sermons given and heard among Methodists, Baptists, United Brethren and German Reformed as he traveled on horseback and by rail throughout Northeastern Ohio, Central Ohio, and Southwestern Ohio. He comments on his participation in a camp meeting held in August and on camp meetings held by "evangelics" and his voices his doctrinal concerns. At an eldership at Wooster in October 1855 Myers was re-elected clerk and was stationed at Clintonville, Ohio. He describes Columbus and vicinity in detail and writes of his visit to the Ohio Penitentiary. Included with diary are 2 sermon outlines in German and in English.
